Principal's Post

Dear Community of St Columba’s,

Welcome back to Term 4. I hope the holiday break provided an opportunity to rest, enjoy time with family and friends, and return refreshed for the term ahead.

Term 4 is always a special and rewarding time in the life of our school. While it is often our busiest term, it also seems to pass by the quickest. Over the coming weeks, we will celebrate the achievements and growth of our students, prepare for important transition and graduation milestones, welcome new families into our community, and reflect with gratitude on another year of learning and accomplishment.

As we begin this final term, I encourage us all to continue working together to support our students, celebrate their successes, and provide the care, encouragement, and high-quality learning opportunities that help every child thrive.

Be Digitally Wise Week

Next week, St Columba’s will be celebrating Be Digitally Wise Week, a national initiative that promotes safe, responsible and positive use of digital technologies.

Throughout the week, students from Pre-Primary to Year 6 will participate in a range of engaging activities designed to build their understanding of online safety and digital citizenship. Students will explore how to stay safe online, protect their personal information, communicate respectfully and make wise choices when using technology.

As part of the week, students will:

  • Participate in online safety lessons and classroom discussions.
  • Take part in a whole-school Digital Wise Treasure Hunt.
  • Create a school-wide Digital Wise Week video sharing important online safety messages.
  • Enter a Digital Wise Poster Competition to promote positive digital citizenship.
  • Attend age-appropriate Cyber Safety Incursions provided through Be Digitally Wise Week team:
    • Pre-Primary to Year 2: Ollie Online
    • Years 3 and 4: Adventures Online
    • Years 5 and 6: Tech Trailblazers

We look forward to a fun and informative week that will empower our students to be safe, respectful and responsible digital citizens both at school and at home.

COLUMBA RUNNERS WINDUP

For all of our Columba Runners families that are not on our Facebook page, please note that we will be having a windup and trophy presentation to end the season.

Details: Sunday October 25, 2pm at Sandy Beach Reserve.

Can parents please provide a plate to share by last name:
A-K savoury plate
L-Z sweet plate

Also if you will be bringing a GLUTEN FREE option, we please ask you to label your share item as such so the GF children and parents have some options.

Please RSVP by Monday 19th October so we can cater for those in attendance, late RSVPs can’t be catered for. Those families who are not on Facebook, we kindly ask that you please seek out a Runners family from your year group that is,

so they can tell us the amount from your family attending and post it to the invite on our page.

We can’t wait to finish off a great season of running.

Disco Volunteers Needed:

Our school disco is happening THIS FRIDAY and we desperately need some extra helping hands to make the night a success!

If you can spare a little time to help out, we’d be so grateful! Even a short shift makes a huge difference, and we can’t run these fun events for our kids without our wonderful parent volunteers.
If your year group slot is taken, please feel free to jump onto any slot as we are desperately needing helpers.

Please sign up here: https://volunteersignup.org/J9DCT

Thank you for helping us make it a fantastic night for the kids!

Thanks,

The P&F team
