Dear Community of St Columba’s,
Faction Carnival
Next week we will hold our Annual Faction Carnival. Events like this are always full of energy, excitement, and fun. This year’s venue change has introduced some additional logistical considerations, and we truly appreciate your understanding and support.
- Arrival Time: Students in Years 1-3 should arrive at school by 8:15 am to ensure a prompt departure for their events. Gates will open at 8:00 am, and supervision will begin at 8:15 am.
- Early Departures: If you plan to take your child home directly from the carnival, please inform us by Tuesday. If another parent will be picking up your child, please provide written authorisation to your child’s teacher before Tuesday. For safety reasons, we cannot release children to anyone not listed with prior notification, and we are unable to make phone calls at departure time.
- Presentations: Due to scheduling constraints, we will not hold presentations at the end of the carnival. Instead, they will be conducted at a special assembly on Friday, September 13.
- Lunches: Please remember to pack a lunch for your child as we will not have a Sausage Sizzle this year. Thank you to everyone contributing to the P&F Bake Sale.
- Important Items: Ensure your child brings a water bottle, wears their school hat, and has applied sunscreen before the day begins.
- Parents will need to use the toilets at the club rooms. Students will access separate toilets.
Mr Banks has placed additional information on each Class Seesaw Page. Please ensure you have read this also.
Thank you for your cooperation and support in making this a fantastic event for all our students.
NAIDOC Week
We are excited to announce that our school will be celebrating NAIDOC Week from Monday 9 September to Friday 13 September. NAIDOC Week is an important time for all Australians to recognise and celebrate the history, culture, and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
Throughout the week, our students will participate in a range of engaging activities designed to deepen their understanding and appreciation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Culture. These activities will include storytelling and art projects.
We encourage you to talk with your children about NAIDOC Week and support their learning journey at home. This is a wonderful opportunity for all of us to reflect on the rich cultural heritage that forms such an integral part of our national identity.
A reminder – Are you leaving?
It is hard to believe that it is already time to start preparing for the 2025 school year. While we are always sad to see families go, we understand that circumstances can change. To help us with budget planning and class compositions, please let us know by September 13, 2024, if your enrolment plans for 2025 will be changing. You can do this by emailing – admin@stcolsbays.wa.edu.au or calling 9208 2700.
Your assistance in this matter is appreciated.

From our Pre-Kindergarten Classes:
The Pre-Kindy students enjoyed their first visit to our school library. They were so excited to meet Mrs Cuthbert and couldn’t believe how many books were in our library. We spent time reading stories and sharing our favourite books with our friends 🥰.
