Principal's Post

Dear Community of St Columba’s School,

Last week, Edmond and Maggie, our Head Boy and Head Girl, had the honour of joining me at a special Mass at St Mary’s Cathedral to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the Archbishop’s Lifelink Appeal. It occurred on the Feast Day of Australia’s very first Saint, Mary McKillop.

The occasion was marked with a spectacular light show, projecting art work from students across all Catholic Schools, onto the outside walls of St Mary’s Cathedral.

I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to Edmond and Maggie for representing our school at this significant event. Additionally, a big thank you to all our families for your generous contributions to the Archbishop’s Lifelink Appeal.

Your support plays a crucial role in making a difference

School Office

Mrs Kylie Harbrow will be enjoying a well deserved break over the next three weeks. Mrs Lisa Merendino will be stepping into the office to assist on the Front Desk.

The Sacrament of Confirmation

Last weekend our Year 6 Students were invited to enrol in the Sacrament of Confirmation.

The Sacrament of Confirmation is one of the seven sacraments in the Catholic Church, and it represents a significant step in a Catholic’s spiritual journey. It is traditionally seen as the completion of the initiation into the Catholic Faith.

To all students, we extend our warmest support and encouragement to each of you. We are truly proud of the dedication and commitment you have shown to deepen your relationship with God and embrace your role within our faith community. It’s a moment to reflect on the values and beliefs that guide you, and to reaffirm your commitment to living a life of faith and service.

Thank you

Parents of students in Pre-Kindy, Kindy and Pre Primary may have noticed their children are coming home with beautiful white sand in their socks again. A special thank you to Darcy and his family for generously donating the soft, white sand that brought lots of fun and happiness to all students in the Early Childhood Area last weekend. We truly appreciate your support.

Religious Education and Curriculum News

From our Pre-Primary Classes :

In Religion, we are learning how people can become friends with others by smiling, saying hello, being kind, asking to play, looking happy, caring for others, and participating in games and activities. We have been exploring the ways people can work on being a good friend and have designed our own special friend using box construction.

From our Kindergarten classes :

This week in Kindy we were very excited to find our sandpit had been filled up with new sand over the weekend. Thank you to Darcy Eden and his family for donating the soft, white sand that brought lots of fun and happiness to us all!

SCHOOL PHOTO DAY IS COMING!

Monday 26 August, Tuesday 27 August and Thursday 29 August

School photo day is coming! Every student will have received a personalised flyer that was sent home yesterday from Kapture Photography containing your child’s unique codes for ordering school photos online.

KEEP YOUR FLYER SECURE!

The unique codes contained on the flyer will be issued only once.

Order EARLY for sibling photography

Sibling photos can ONLY be ordered online. Once you receive the personalised flyers for your children, it is imperative that you order your sibling photo early to avoid missing out! There is a physical limit in the school schedule to how many sibling photos can be taken. Once the maximum capacity of sibling orders has been reached, no more sibling orders can be placed.

If maximum capacity is not reached, sibling orders close 12pm midday sharp, one business day prior to the first photo day.

The school or the photographers cannot accept late orders for sibling photography. Please do not ask as your request simply cannot be accommodated.

Order EARLY for discount photo day prices

Order your photos up to 10 calendar days after photo day to receive discount photo day prices. Late orders are handled separately to the school delivery and incur a $30 custom service charge.

Other information

Kapture offer a money back guarantee for any parent who is not fully satisfied with their photo package. Should you have any queries before or after photo day, please check the FAQ’s on the Kapture website.

We request that students who are displaying signs of respiratory and / or gastrointestinal illnesses do not attend school specifically to be included in their class photo. Having students with communicable illnesses attend the photography venues puts other students, school staff and Kapture staff at risk – especially those that are already immunocompromised. Students who are unable to attend school photo day can book a studio appointment at our Malaga office to be photographed during school holidays. We appreciate your understanding in this matter.

Your school will notify you in a few weeks when team and special group photos are available to view and purchase on the Kapture website. Please note; class, individual and sibling portraits are not available to view online prior to purchase.

All students will be photographed individually on photo day for school administration records AS WELL as included in their class group presentation available for purchase to all families. Should there be any reason why your child should NOT be included in the photo shoot –please contact the school office.
