Dear Community of St Columba’s,
End of Term 3 Message
Thank you for the energy, care, and commitment you’ve brought to Term 3. It is your involvement, in both big and small ways, that makes St Columba’s such a special place to belong.
Whether it was cheering on your children at Sports Carnivals and the Catholic Performing Arts Festival or any of the below:
- joining in with Columba Runners,
- attending the Year 5 & 6 Parent-Child Sexuality Talks,
- being present at Assemblies, Masses, and Liturgies,
- volunteering on excursions,
- celebrating the Sacraments of Holy Communion and Confirmation,
- getting creative for the Book Week Parade,
- sharing in the joy of our Father’s Day Breakfast,
- or supporting our P&F at events like Bingo Night, the Athletics Carnival Bake Sale, and the Sausage Sizzle, your presence and participation have made all the difference.
We are so grateful for the way you continue to show up for our students and for each other.
Wishing you all a safe, restful, and joyful break. We look forward to welcoming you back, refreshed and ready for Term 4!
School Athletics Carnival
We were blessed with beautiful weather and an incredible display of energy, sportsmanship, and team spirit from our students at our School Athletics Carnival on Monday.
While we experienced a delay due to a bus mix-up early in the day, the strong teamwork and flexibility shown by our staff and students helped us recover nearly an hour of lost time. This was an outstanding effort that truly reflects the resilience and commitment of our community, and the strong leadership of our PE Teacher, Mr Dylan Banks.
Thanks to your cooperation, we were able to manage the end-of-day transport smoothly and avoid an oversupply of buses. Each year, many families choose to take their children directly home at the end of the carnival, and when we are informed, we are happy to accommodate this.
We recognise that the breakdown in our communication system, along with a higher-than-usual number of early sign-outs, impacted the flow of the day, particularly the end-of-day presentations. These are areas we will review closely to help improve future carnivals.
Despite these challenges, the day was filled with joy, determination, and celebration. A heartfelt thank you to Mr Banks, all staff, our Parents and Friends for the delicious catering, parent volunteers, and all families who supported the event.
Congratulations to our overall shield winners — Pascal, and to Russell, winners of the Spirit Shield.
Well done to all our Champions and Runner-Up Champions — your efforts were outstanding!

Principal Parking Bay
At St Columba’s, we are incredibly fortunate to have a P&F that finds meaningful ways to celebrate and support our families. Since 2023, they have coordinated with me to offer the use of my car bay to one nominated family during Term 4.
This year, instead of a raffle, the P&F invited our community to submit nominations for families they felt were deserving of this opportunity. It is a beautiful reflection of the care and thoughtfulness that exists within our school community.
Thank you to everyone who took the time to submit a nomination. Please see below for a special announcement from our P&F Executive:
We received 18 heartfelt nominations for 11 different families, each with beautiful and thoughtful reasons behind them. It’s lovely to see how many deserving families are part of our community.
We believe that all nominations are equally deserving all in a different way, we used a random number generator to ensure fairness. The selected family, based on a de-duplicated list, is the Byrde Family – CONGRATULATIONS!
They will receive daily access to a private car bay for all of Term 4, including during special events like Disco Night and EduDance Concert.
A huge thank you to our Principal for generously making a staff car park available for this special initiative.
Please respect that this bay is reserved exclusively for the nominated family throughout Term 4. A sign will be displayed to indicate the reserved space.
Let’s continue celebrating and supporting each other, our community is something special!

Class News
From our Year 3 classes:
In Art, Year Three have been learning about the Australian artist, Emma Gale. Her work celebrates a love for colour, shape and texture. Inspired by Emma Gale’s work, we have created our own Zany Zebras.
From the Pre-Kindergarten classes:
In Pre-Kindy the children have been welcoming Spring. They listened to a story about Clara the Caterpillar and made their very own balloon print caterpillars. They also scrunched up tissue paper to make beautiful flowers. They have had lots of fun while developing their fine motor control, hand eye co-ordination and pincer grip!
Student Achievements
We are delighted to recognise two students who have demonstrated exceptional artistic skills through their remarkable artworks. Their creativity, imagination, and dedication stood out among an incredible pool of talent, making the selection process wonderfully challenging! In the Kindy to Year 2 category, congratulations to Elena. In the Year 3 to 6 category, a big congratulations to Monica.
We are so proud of both students and their artistic achievements!
