Dear Community of St Columba’s,
I hope all our mums and mother figures had a wonderful Mother’s Day!
Last week we had a busy week with events. Congratulations to the Year 5 and 6 students who competed in the CPSSA Interschool Basketball competition at the Morley Recreation Centre. We also had a successful interschool team breakfast last Wednesday morning, and I want to thank the volunteers who made it possible. On Thursday, students from Year 4 to 6 participated in the Interschool Swimming Carnival at HBF Stadium. I commend them for their excellent performance, school representation, and support for each other. We enjoyed the opportunity to congratulate these students as a school at Tuesday’s assembly.
Last Friday we had our Mother’s Day breakfast at the school, which was a great success, a heartfelt thank you to the volunteers who organised and donated their precious time. Your efforts, along with the P&F, made the event truly special. Finally, on Saturday evening we had a great turn out for community mass at St Columba’s Parish. This mass had particular significance as it was the enrolment for our year 3 and 4 students who will be participating in the Sacrament of Penance and First Holy Communion later this term.
Neurodivergent Conference
Tonight, we have Neurodivergent conference being held at Bayswater Tennis Club at 6:30pm. I would like to thank Nicole Leach for organising this opportunity for parents to learn about the diversity in how people think and experience the world.
Italian Day
This Friday we are celebrating Italian Day at the school. This event will include students having a cultural experience with the Pizza making process and most importantly, they get to taste test the Pizza! I would like to thank Ms Simona Castro for organising this for our school.

Community Enrolment Mass
A huge thank you to all of the families who joined us on Saturday night for our First Penance and First Communion Enrolment Masses. It was wonderful to see everyone there.
Families who were unable to attend Mass Saturday night, are asked to attend another Mass over the weekend and give Father Andrew their enrolment information, or to leave their form with Mrs Vinciullo at Reception.
WINTER UNIFORM
As we move into the cooler months, a reminder from Week 3 all students need to be in full winter uniform. This is also a good time to ensure all grooming requirements are being adhered to – especially regarding hair and jewellery. Please note that JFE have advised that scarves and rain jackets won’t be available until further notice.
Please click here for the school’s uniform policy:
If you are waiting on items from the Uniform Shop to arrive, please provide classroom teachers with a note outlining this.
We appreciate parents supporting us with maintaining these standards.
NOTE: Students attending Columba Runners after school are permitted to wear their sport uniform to school on those days.
If you have any questions or concerns regarding the school uniform, please contact the school.

Year Five classes Reflect on the Life of Pope Francis and Welcome Pope Leo XIV
This term, our Year Five students have been learning about the inspiring life of Pope Francis, reflecting on his values of kindness, humility, and care for others. They also explored the sacred process of the papal conclave and were excited to learn about the election of Pope Leo XIV, the first American pope. The students are eager to follow his journey and see how he continues the mission of compassion and unity in the Church.

From our SPORT classes:
It’s been an extremely busy first couple of weeks of sport for our St Col’s students this term, with a handful of 6s and 5s participating in the School Slam Series Basketball Competition at Morley Rec and a selected number of 4s, 5s & 6s representing the school at the Interschool Swimming Carnival.
Meanwhile at school, our students are learning the fundamentals of Netball. Focusing on their object control skills as well as defensive and offensive outcomes.
