Principal's Post

Dear Community of St Columba’s,

As we move into the coming weeks, there are several important and meaningful events in the life of our school and parish community.

Firstly, I would like to congratulate all of our students on their outstanding participation and sportsmanship at last week’s Cross Country Carnival. We were certainly fortunate that the rain held off for most of the event, allowing the day to proceed so successfully. A special mention must go to our Year 1 students, who showed wonderful courage and enthusiasm in braving a light sprinkle. They truly demonstrated resilience and House spirit.

Congratulations to Columbanus, our overall winning House.

Special thanks to Mr Banks for co-ordinating the day and his presence from the sidelines.

On Friday 5 June, we come together to celebrate Mercy Mission and St Columba’s Day. This is a special occasion that invites us to reflect on our rich heritage and the Mercy values that continue to guide us. Funds raised on this day will support the founding order of our school through Mercy Works Australia, as well as our parish, named after our patron saint, St Columba. It is always a wonderful opportunity to see our community united in both celebration and service.

During Week 8, our IEP Review Meetings will take place. These meetings provide a valuable opportunity for parents and teachers to connect, review progress, and plan for continued growth. We thank families for their ongoing partnership and commitment to their child’s learning journey.

On Tuesday 9 June, we will gather for the PP–Year 2 Liturgy at 2:00pm. All families are warmly invited to attend as our youngest students lead us in prayer and reflection. This same day, our students preparing to receive the Sacrament will also participate in their First Holy Communion Workshops, an important step in their faith journey. This preparation continues on Thursday 11 June with the First Holy Communion Reflection Day, providing students with time for deeper understanding and spiritual reflection as they prepare for this sacred milestone.

We look forward to sharing these significant moments with you and thank you, as always, for your continued support in fostering a strong, faith-filled community.

Class News

From our Library

National Simultaneous Storytime 2026

On Wednesday 27 May 2026 at 12.00 pm St Columba’s buddy classes simultaneously read Luna Roo.  Our school joined millions of children, parents, teachers, and library lovers across Australia and beyond will come together to read Luna Roo at the same time — celebrating the joy of reading, storytelling and connection.

A huge effort by all and thank you for participating in the annual event celebrating the love of reading.

Chess Club

This term, we started a Chess Club in the library at lunchtime. It has been wonderful to see so many students getting involved and enjoying the game. One of the highlights has been watching our older students teach and support the younger students as they learn new skills. Chess helps students develop problem-solving, concentration, patience, and strategic thinking, while also encouraging teamwork and positive social interactions. We look forward to seeing the club continue to grow throughout the year.
