Dear Community of St Columba’s,
Thank you sincerely for your understanding regarding the postponement of our Swimming Carnival. We are pleased to confirm that the event has been rescheduled to Wednesday, 18 March. Please note that this event will now take place at a new venue. The Swimming Carnival has been relocated to Beatty Park Leisure Centre, as the previously booked venue is no longer available.
Please note that refunds for cafe orders at Terry Tyzack will be processed by the end of the week. Thank you for your patience with this.
As a result of this change, Harmony Day will now take place on Thursday, 19 March, and the NAPLAN CatchUp Test, originally planned for that day, has been moved to Monday, 23 March.
We appreciate the flexibility of our families as we adjust these important dates. Let us continue to pray for some cooler weather in the days ahead.
Upcoming Events

As we enter the second week of Lent, I invite our St Columba’s community to pause and reflect on the season’s gentle call to renewal.
Lent offers us a precious opportunity to slow down, to notice God’s presence in the ordinary moments of our lives, and to realign ourselves with what truly matters. Whether through prayer, acts of kindness, or choosing small sacrifices, this season encourages us to grow closer to Christ by deepening our sense of compassion, humility, and gratitude.
May this second week of Lent be a time of grace for all our families, a chance to reconnect with faith, nurture kindness, and grow in the spirit of community that makes St Columba’s so special.
Wishing you every blessing for the week ahead.
In gratitude

SCHOOL DENTAL SERVICE, IT’S TIME TO ENROL!
Every year Dental Health Services (DHS) offers parents and carers the chance to register their kids for free dental care at the School Dental Service (SDS). The offer is open to every student from the year they turn 5 until their 17th birthday and includes check-ups, fillings, and simple extractions.
Your child will soon bring home an envelope with an enrolment form, Frequently Asked Questions, and reply-paid envelope from DHS. Just fill in the enrolment form, pop it in the reply-paid envelope, and put it in your nearest post box.
Once we receive your form at DHS our team will register your child and arrange for you to receive an appointment in the mail.
If you would like further information on DHS services and the SDS please visit our website: www.dental.wa.gov.au

Pastoral Care Wednesday Raffle – Starting Week 5
We are pleased to share that our Pastoral Care Wednesday Raffle will begin in Week 5 of Term 1 – Wednesday 4 March. The weekly class raffle is a simple but meaningful way to support the wellbeing of our students, families, and wider school community.
Funds raised through the raffle allow our Pastoral Care team to offer assistance during times of need and to celebrate special moments within our community. Your support through providing a weekly prize when rostered and purchasing tickets on a Wednesday directly contributes to the care we provide for your children and the families around them.
Raffle is $1 for 3 chances to win.
Pastoral Care is also seeking parent volunteers to help on Wednesday mornings. If you are able to spare 30 to 45 mins after drop-off, we would love to welcome you. It’s a great way to meet other parents and be part of a supportive school initiative.
You can find us in the Church meeting room just following the open doors to the church from the basketball court. Come say hi from Week 5.
Thank you for your ongoing generosity and community spirit.
We cannot do what we do without you!

Class News
From our Year 5 Classes
This term in Geography, students are exploring the physical and cultural characteristics of North and South America. They are learning to identify major countries within these continents and describe their locations in relation to Australia. Through guided research, the students are investigating key features such as climate, landforms, natural vegetation, and native animals of selected countries. To showcase their learning, students will plan and create a 7‑day travel journal, using their researched information to reflect each country’s landscapes, weather conditions, landmarks, and cultural experiences.
