Principal's Post

Dear St Columba’s School Community,

I hope this newsletter finds you well and refreshed after a well-deserved break. I extend a warm welcome back to each and every one of you.

It was a very exciting school holiday for one of our staff members. Miss Amy Holloway, Education Assistant in Kindergarten Green, surprised us by becoming Mrs Amy Quinn. Congratulations Jordan and Amy. We wish you a lifetime of happiness together.

The start of a new school term is a time of excitement and anticipation. We have some fantastic things in store for this final term and I wanted to share a few important points to help everyone get off to a great start.

Year 6 Camp
We look forward to welcoming back our Year 6 Students and Staff from their camp this afternoon. From all reports they have had an amazing time, as can be seen by the photographs that have been both on our Facebook page and sent to me. Make sure you ask your children about the Staff Talent Quest item held on Monday evening.

Many thanks to our staff who took time out from their own families to make this event possible for our students – Clare Wright, Jacob O’Reilly, Leesa Vinciullo, Lisa Slocum, Melissa Merendino, Adriana Xavier, Vicky Miranda, Harrison Turner, Matthew Hubbard and Dylan Banks. There will be some very tired bodies tonight.

EDUDANCE Lessons
Edudance lessons for children in Kindergarten to Year 6 will take place either Monday or Wednesday. I can see from my window the progress that has already been made in just one lesson!

School Disco
Our students are very much looking forward to the School Disco this Friday evening. Thank you to our P&F and all parent volunteers for organising this event. Times are as below:

Pre Kindy – Year 2: 5.00 – 6.30 pm

Year 3 – 6: 6.45 – 8.15 pm

Voice Referendum
St Columba’s Primary School has been selected as a polling venue for this Saturday’s Referendum Vote. Many thanks again to our P&F and all parent volunteers who have given their time for Sausage Sizzles and Cake Stalls to fundraise for the school throughout the day.

Congratulations Olivia Ioppolo
Next Monday our Students with Disabilities Co-Ordinator, Mrs Olivia Ioppolo will be acknowledged for over 30 years of service to Catholic Education. We congratulate and thank Olivia for her contribution to our school and the wider Catholic Education Community.

Before School Supervision
Before concluding I would like to remind everyone that before school supervision commences each day at 8.15 am. Our teachers and staff require time before 8.15 a.m. to prepare for the day ahead and are unable to provide adequate supervision for students before this time.

If your child requires care before 8.15 a.m., please contact Jess at St Columba’s OSHC for a position in our Before School Care Program – 9208 2723.

In gratitude,

Gina Burns.

TERM 4 Events

  • Referendum voting – St Columba’s has been chosen as a polling place on Saturday 14th. This is a great opportunity to fundraise now that the playground has been completed. We will be selling Bacon and Egg rolls and “Democracy Sausages” as well as a cake stall and drinks. Donations for the cake stall can be dropped of at the disco for those that are keen to get their aprons back on. Each year group will be designated an hour of the day to man the stalls with a member of the P&F executive on site all day to coordinate. More details to come out from your class reps.
  • End of Year Concert – We will be holding a sausage sizzle at the end of the concert for those that don’t want to go home and cook dinner.
  • Christmas Raffle – We would like to do a Christmas Raffle that is more activity based for school holidays rather than toy based. If anyone has any contacts or ideas for prizes, please contact your class rep.
