Principal's Post

Dear Community of St Columba’s School,

Dana and Tyson from URSTRONG are so excited to be facilitating a Day of Friendship online with our students, along with students at other CEWA Schools, on Monday 12 August in partnership with the Wellbeing Team at CEWA!😊 Research shows that relationships are the heart of wellbeing & learning. When we get friendships right in schools, children flourish!

Please note students in Years 1 – 4 will need a small, soft toy to help with role-plays (their favorite “fuzzy friend” from home)

Swimming Lessons

Just a final reminder that enrolments are now open for the October Vacation Swim Program. The link is contained within this edition of the Donegal.

St Columba’s School does not include Swimming Instruction as part of our program and parents are strongly encouraged to enrol their child in either the Department of Education VacSwim Program or another private swim program.

I would like to collect information from our families about their preference for educating their child/ren to swim. Please click the link below to complete a quick survey. The link will be open for one final week.  Swimming Survey

Upcoming Events

  • Thursday 8 August: Australian Maths Competition.
  • Friday 9 August: Year 2 Assembly.
  • Saturday 10 August: Community Mass for Confirmation Enrolments (Year 6).
  • Monday 12 August: URSTRONG Day of Friendship

Mr Niall Kehoe and I will be absent from the school, attending the CEWA Leaders’ Forum, on Tuesday 13 August. For urgent matters please contact the school to speak to Mrs Leesa Vinciullo, who will be Acting Principal on this day.

Finally my sincere thanks for making Principal Appreciation Day a very special one. I’m appreciative of all your wishes, time, and spoils. I love what I do and the community in which I am blessed to be a part of.

In gratitude,

Gina Burns
Principal

gingerberry Offer

Rob and Jayne Jagger have been a part of the St Columba’s community since 2015 and want to give back. Rob designs baby & children’s feeding products and has been in the industry for 20+ years. His brand gingerberry, affectionately named after his girls Sophie and Lilah with their ginger & strawberry hair, focuses on ergonomics and provides young families with all they need when introducing a sippy cup, starting solids for the first time & teaching their little ones how to hold cutlery correctly. Rob is offering 20% off with part proceeds going to the School. Simply head to the website www.gingerberry.com.au and enter these two discount codes at the checkout (STCOLS20 + FREE) – all orders can either be collected from their home in Bayswater or the school and this offer will be on for the remainder of 2024. Religious Education and Curriculum News

From our Kindergarten Classes :

In Kindy we have been thanking God for the wonderful world that we live in. We have had many lively discussions while sharing photos of places we’ve visited in Western Australia. Then we used water colours to help tell the stories of where we visited.

Thank you, God for our beautiful land.

From our Pre-Primary classes :

During our mathematics lessons in Pre Primary Green, we have been learning about patterning. We know patterns can follow an ABA pattern, ABBA pattern or even an ABC pattern. We made fruit kebabs using our favourite fruits and repeated the pattern on the skewers. We recorded the pattern represented on our kebabs. The best part was eating all the delicious fruit.

Great patterning PPG!🍊 🍎 🍉 🍐

SCHOOL PHOTO DAY IS COMING!

Monday 26 August, Tuesday 27 August and Thursday 29 August

School photo day is coming! Every student will have received a personalised flyer that was sent home yesterday from Kapture Photography containing your child’s unique codes for ordering school photos online.

KEEP YOUR FLYER SECURE!

The unique codes contained on the flyer will be issued only once.

Order EARLY for sibling photography

Sibling photos can ONLY be ordered online. Once you receive the personalised flyers for your children, it is imperative that you order your sibling photo early to avoid missing out! There is a physical limit in the school schedule to how many sibling photos can be taken. Once the maximum capacity of sibling orders has been reached, no more sibling orders can be placed.

If maximum capacity is not reached, sibling orders close 12pm midday sharp, one business day prior to the first photo day.

The school or the photographers cannot accept late orders for sibling photography. Please do not ask as your request simply cannot be accommodated.

Order EARLY for discount photo day prices

Order your photos up to 10 calendar days after photo day to receive discount photo day prices. Late orders are handled separately to the school delivery and incur a $30 custom service charge.

Other information

Kapture offer a money back guarantee for any parent who is not fully satisfied with their photo package. Should you have any queries before or after photo day, please check the FAQ’s on the Kapture website.

We request that students who are displaying signs of respiratory and / or gastrointestinal illnesses do not attend school specifically to be included in their class photo. Having students with communicable illnesses attend the photography venues puts other students, school staff and Kapture staff at risk – especially those that are already immunocompromised. Students who are unable to attend school photo day can book a studio appointment at our Malaga office to be photographed during school holidays. We appreciate your understanding in this matter.

Your school will notify you in a few weeks when team and special group photos are available to view and purchase on the Kapture website. Please note; class, individual and sibling portraits are not available to view online prior to purchase.

All students will be photographed individually on photo day for school administration records AS WELL as included in their class group presentation available for purchase to all families. Should there be any reason why your child should NOT be included in the photo shoot –please contact the school office.
