Sports Update
On Friday 28 May, St Columba’s participated in The A Division Interschool Swimming competition at HBF Stadium. After many months of training and a delay due to COVID-19 restrictions, the effort put in by the swimmers and parents came to fruition with fantastic results across all year groups.
Over all the results were excellent with St Columba’s coming 3rd place in the Boys, 5th in the Girls and 5th place overall, with only 32 points separating 3rd and 5th place.
The Year 5 swimmers came 1st place overall in the Boys and the Girls!!! Amazing!! Well done to everyone. Thank you to Filip Kryachok from Year 3 who stepped up to swim in the Year 4 medley relay. You swam a brilliant 50m Butterfly, Filip.
A huge thank you to all of the parents who helped with training sessions. Your commitment was invaluable and was reflected in the improvement in the swimmer’s times and technique. Thank you to Ingrid and Milla Iaschi for organising training and rosters and the following parents who helped out at training sessions: Natalie Pizzata, Alex Wright, Damian Katich and Shane Smith.
A big thank you also to Tanya Armstrong for organising the breakfast after each session. The regular attendance at 6:15am training sessions can be attributed to the swimmers knowing that they could enjoy a hearty breakfast after all their efforts. Thank you to Nicole Wells, Kyle Rattray, Marina Kryachok, Maria Tribut, Clare Sardelich and Jasmine Hornby who helped out with the breakfast set up and pack way.
