Principal's Post

Dear Parents and Friends of St Col’s

I know, Week 6, and it is flying. I thought it was Week 5. So far behind in where I need to be, but that is all good. There are a few things on over the next couple of weeks, with plenty happening this time of year. Life is pretty busy as parents and as staff, and well, for our kids, yes, busy, busy. Just remember to try to be gentle on self and others and look after yourself.

A few things to catch-up on:

Staffing Update

At the end of the 2020 school year, Megan Dwyer, will be concluding her position as Assistant Principal, and will be returning to part-time teaching in 2021. We thank Megan sincerely for her contributions as Assistant Principal over her tenure. Megan is committed to our St Columba’s families and the education and wellbeing of our students. We look forward to seeing Megan back after her well-earned Long Service leave in Term 1. We welcome Niall Kehoe to St Columba’s School, as our Assistant Principal Early Childhood. Niall has been seconded from St Anthony’s School, Wanneroo to take on a senior leadership role here with us. Niall has been an integral member of the middle leadership system of St Anthony’s. We look forward to Niall joining our team in 2021.

End of Year Dance Concert

The End of Year Concert is planned for Friday 4 December at 6.00 pm, Kindergarten to Year 6. This will be held in the Greg Martin Pavilion [undercover area]. Due to the outbreak in South Australia, we may need to look at the End of Year Concert being presented differently this year. We had hoped for a lifting of restrictions last weekend however this has not taken place. Please be aware times could change. This is not in our control. We are going to need to leave final organisational details until later next week as we wait to see if there are further government directives for schools. Thank you for your understanding.

Harmony Day Mural

Our Harmony Tree for 2020 is close to completion. I wish to thank our Parent Pastoral Care Committee for their commitment to the project, along with all children and staff. Special thanks to Misha Lee Cooper and Jeannie Pincus for their drive to get a wonderful result. Misha Lee’s artistic talents are a blessing to our school.

Year 6 Assembly

This Friday, 20 November, our Year 6 students will be presenting their final assembly. We will also farewell them at the end of the assembly. It is a busy time for the Year 6s as they prepare for secondary school, orientation days and their Graduation Mass in a couple of weeks. Please remember only Year 6 parents and Merit Award winner parents are only to attend due to COVID-19 restrictions.

Pre-Primary Nativity

Our Pre-Primary children will present the nativity on Thursday 3 December at 8.45 am. We will farewell our children who will be leaving us at the end of the year to move to other schools and wish them an abundance of blessings. Once a St Col’s Kid. Always a St Col’s Kid.

Outstanding School Fees 2020

CHRISTMAS CLEAN-OUT

Mrs Vinciullo is collecting all sorts of good quality second hand books for the Mercedes College Second Hand Book Stall (at the 2021 Mercedes Fete). If you have any that you would like to donate, please leave them at St Columba’s school office or drop them at the 6G classroom. She is also collecting clean jars and all sorts of gardening pots – big or small. If you are having a clean-out and think you may have something that she would be interested in, please email her on Leesa.Vinciullo@cewa.edu.au

Thank you so much for your support.

Enrolments are now open for VacSwim swimming lessons during the summer school holidays.

VacSwim in January offers fun lessons at beach or pool locations during the long break. Not only are they a great school holiday activity, they teach valuable safety skills to help keep your child safe in the water.

Your children can start as young as five years old.

Don’t wait! Enrol your children in VacSwim now at education.wa.edu.au/vacswim
