Dear Community of St Columba’s,
St Columba and Mercy Mission Day
Our students recently celebrated the 88 year legacy of St Columba’s with enthusiasm. Through St Columba Day and Mercy Mission Day Stalls, they successfully fundraised around $2,000 for Mercy Works, engaging in activities like face painting, nail polishing, and pancake decorating. This annual celebration remains a cherished highlight for our students. I extend my heartfelt appreciation to all the teachers for co-ordinating their class stalls and to the parents for their generous contributions of prizes and resources, which made the event possible. A special acknowledgment goes to the parents in our early childhood community for their invaluable supervision, ensuring the safety and enjoyment of our Kindergarten and Pre-Primary children as they explored the stalls in small groups.

eSafety – Online safety Mighty Heroes
You may recall learning in previous newsletters about the eSafety website, which is designed to help support children when they are online. It is filled with terrific resources, including Online safety Mighty Heroes. This series of four short videos teaches children to reflect on the online safety messages of the four main characters:
- Wanda the echidna: I am responsible – I protect my personal information.
- River the sugar glider: I show respect – I am kind and caring to others.
- Dusty the frilled neck lizard: I trust my feelings – I ask for help when something doesn’t feel right.
- Billie the bilby: I investigate – I question what I see, hear and do online.

Celebrating St Columba’s Day and Mercy Mission Day: A Joyful School Event
Last Friday, our entire school community came together to celebrate St Columba’s Day followed by Mercy Mission Day. The day began with a beautiful Mass, setting a reflective and joyful tone for the festivities.
After recess, students eagerly participated in a variety of games and activities. The school buzzed with excitement as they explored numerous stalls, many of which were thoughtfully created and managed by our talented students. Delicious food was available throughout the event, adding to the enjoyment and festive spirit.
We were thrilled to see such enthusiastic involvement from our students and are incredibly grateful for the generous donations from our community. A heartfelt thank you goes out to the parents who volunteered their time, ensuring that the students could fully engage in and enjoy the day’s activities.
It was a fantastic day, filled with joy, community spirit, and memorable experiences for everyone involved.
