Dear St Columba’s Community,
This weekend marks a significant milestone for our Year 4 Green students as they receive the Sacrament of First Holy Communion. It’s a momentous occasion as they take this step towards a deeper connection with Christ. Your prayers for them during this time are appreciated. Thank you to our Sacramental Team in preparing the students for this, Jenny McLeod, Sarah Lombardo, Leesa Vinciullo, Fr Andrew and Parish Catechist, Caroline Kelly.
On another note, Nicole Leach will be hosting her next online parenting workshop next week focusing on ‘Anxiety in Children’. These workshops are invaluable resources, and if you’re unable to attend live, recordings are made available. To participate, please email Nicole at nicole.leach@cewa.edu.au. For those who have already registered for previous workshops, there is no need to register again.
With much sadness, we announce that due to a change in personal circumstance our Music Teacher for Upper Primary, Mary Jo Masmanian will be leaving us at the end of this term. Her journey will take her to be Class 7 Teacher at Parkerville Steiner. Whilst only a short stay, Mary Jo’s presence has been deeply felt. We will farewell Mary Jo or Mrs Maz at the conclusion of the Term. The process to appoint a new Music Teacher has commenced.
Upcoming events:
- Thursday, May 16th: First Communion Reflection Day
- Friday, May 17th: Year One Assembly & Education Assistant Appreciation Day
- Saturday, May 18th: First Holy Communion for 4G
- Week 6: Parenting Topic – Anxiety in Children
- Tuesday, May 21st: Reconciliation Family Workshops
- Keep supporting our Parents and Friends with their Cookie Dough Fundraiser
A special thank you to everyone, especially parents of younger children, for your cooperation in ensuring our playgrounds remain clear before and after school hours. Your efforts are truly valued.

THANK YOU
Mother’s Day Breakfast
Thank you to our P&F Sub Committee & The Pastoral Care Team for orchestrating this year’s Mother’s Day Breakfast & Raffle, pouring their hearts and souls into the event. Special thanks to our amazing volunteer Dads who took over the prep and delivery of our fab breakfast. We also thank our wonderful school community & teachers who supported this event, especially so early in the morning allowing us access to the school. In total, we raised $1150 which goes directly back into the School to purchase EXTRA beneficial items for the students. We hope everyone enjoyed the morning as much as we did and had a wonderful Mother’s Day celebration!
Danish Patisserie – Bassendean
The support from local businesses around the School has been truly amazing so far this year. The Mother’s Day Breakfast was heavily supported by the wonderful team at Danish Patisserie in Bassendean. We wish to extend a huge thank you for their generous discount of goods that supplied our families with a beautiful early morning breakfast. You can visit their factory shop in Bassendean for all your bakery needs (Mon-Fri 6.00am-4pm, Sat 7.00am-1.00pm), head online to order www.danpat.com.au or call 9376 9376 to enquire. Need some afternoon tea for the kids?!? We’ve heard their caramel slice is an absolute winner!
