Principal's Post

Dear Families of St Columba’s,

Seek Forgiveness and Forgive Others
Congratulations to many of our students this week as they have made their first confession through the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Many of these students are in Year 3, however there are several other students from the year levels above also participating.

When we knowingly choose to do the wrong thing, this is known as a sin. Through sin we move further away from the good that is God and towards evil. This sacrament teaches us that God’s love for us is so strong that when we truly turn back to Him and seek forgiveness through the sacrament, our sins are forgiven and we restore our relationship with God and others. We too are asked to demonstrate the mercy that God shows to us to others when they too seek our forgiveness. Therefore, we are encouraged to not only seek forgiveness, but to forgive others.

Administration Entrance / Exit
Please note to exit the Administration Gate on Roberts Road during school hours, parents now need to press the egress button located above and to the left of the handle.

This is an extra measure added to ensure our students remain within the school grounds, unless accompanied by an adult.

Security Cameras on Premises

The school has several security cameras around the school. These are both located internally and externally, and their locations are visible. Please be aware these cameras are monitored regularly and can be accessed when specific concerns of safety arise.

School Fees
Our procedure for collecting school fees is on our school website. Many thanks to our families for making arrangements with the school to settle their account.

Upon distribution of school fees at the commencement of each year, families have the below options to settle their account:

  1. Payment in full within 14 days of receiving annual fees;
  2. Payment via payment plan by 30 November 2023. The payment plan must be received by the school within 14 days of receiving annual fees;
  3. If you are experiencing financial difficulties, please contact the School Principal.

Save the Date – School Cross Country
We apologise our annual School Cross Country Date was left off our parent calendar. Please save the morning of 9 June for this event. Mr Banks is preparing a timetable for the day. Please note this can only be a guide and parents should allow 30 minutes either side of their child’s event to avoid missing it.

Community Baptism
After the wonderful response to our Community Baptism event last term, Father Andrew and Mrs Vinciullo are organising another Community Baptism for the beginning of Term Three. We will hold an Information Night later this term, where you will receive all the paperwork and information you require.

If you are interested in joining us for this event, finding out more information about this event, or would like any information on receiving the Sacraments, please contact the school Religious Education Coordinator, Leesa Vinciullo Leesa.Vinciullo@cewa.edu.au .

Congratulations
Congratulations to Year 5 student Filip Kryachok, who has been selected in the WA school sports swimming team which will travel to Sydney in August to compete against other states. We wish Filip all the best for August.

Religious Education and Curriculum News

From our Year 4’s:

In Year Four, we are learning about Confirmation. In the Confirmation unit we learn about how to manage our emotions through relationships, how Jesus expressed his emotions in loving ways, how people are strengthened by the Holy Spirit to live and love others as Jesus did, how The Holy Spirit strengthens people through the Sacrament of Confirmation and how Jesus taught his followers to love others. We have read Gospel stories that teach us about how Saint Peter and Saint Paul were strengthened by the Holy Spirit.
