Dear St Columba’s Community,
Last weekend, we welcomed nine children into the Parish of St. Columba’s in Bayswater. A heartfelt thank you goes out to Leesa Vinciullo and Father Andrew for their dedication to our Community Baptism Ceremonies. If you or someone you know is considering being baptised into the Catholic Tradition, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us. We are here to guide and support you on this sacred journey of faith.
Parents and Friends Meeting
Last night we held an informative and productive P&F Meeting. I thank all the parents who were able to come along.
Parents and Friends Meetings occur mostly on the second Tuesday of each month and all parents are welcome to attend. There are so many areas you can help or become involved in the life of the school. Our next meeting will be held on Tuesday 11 June at 7.00 pm in the School Library.
Lower Playgrounds Before and After School
Unfortunately I write again to request your co-operation for a safety and compliance issue.
We request you to keep your children off playgrounds either before or after school. There are several reasons for this:
- There is no staff supervision provided and injuries can occur quickly;
- The playgrounds on the lower oval, form part of the OSHC licence and therefore must be kept available for all students enrolled in our OSHC services both before and after school. Unauthorised persons in this space, results in a breach which could impose a public notice or financial penalty;
- Whilst you may be supervising your child, other students without their parents at school, see their friends playing and think, like during school hours, they too can go and play. It is confusing for our students, especially younger students, to understand why their friends can play and they cannot. We also don’t want any student to feel excluded;
- Duty Teachers are unable to discern who has a parent supervising them and who does not.
Kindy and Pre Kindy Families, I understand the difficulties some families are having keeping their children off the playground on the upper level (nature playground) whilst they wait for the later start, but please do not allow them to do so before all other classroom doors have opened at 8.30 am. I strongly remind you; you are responsible for your own child’s supervision, staff are not available to assist and this playground has not been designed for students below Year One. You will need to remain highly vigilant at all times.
Your support and help in this matter is truly appreciated.

Thank you for your dedication and efforts in making this event possible. I also extend my appreciation to all our staff for their support in encouraging students to celebrate their mothers. Your efforts in fostering these special bonds are truly valued.
Happy Mother’s Day to all the amazing mums of our school community. Your unconditional love, endless sacrifices, and unwavering support light up the lives of your children. Italian Day
What an awesome day we had!! It was a real joy to see the students at St. Cols embrace the Italian culture and get so excited! We had a Venice backdrop to pretend our class was in Venice for the day. Thank you Mr Sandon, for setting this up, it really created the atmosphere for the day. Our learning experience of ordering an Italian gelato (from Il Gelato) was embraced by the students and we had fun dancing to the tarantella, playing bocce and learning some facts about Italy.
Grazie mille to everyone for making it happen and especially the parents for helping to organise the dress up for the day for their child.
