Principal's Post

Dear Parents & Caregivers,

The following information is a brief update on operational matters at St Columba’s School:

DEEPEST SYMPATHY

Late last week, we received the sad news of Mrs Gillian’s [Vesna’s] sister Anne having passed away after a brave and courageous battle against cancer. We know our St Columba’s School community bring our thoughts and prayers together for the life of Anne, but also in offering deep sympathy and support for Vesna and Anne’s family. Thank you for always showing the care you do for all those in our school community. Vesna thanks everyone for their support during what is a time of great sadness.

BIG THANK YOU

An enormous thank you to Morgan Bonnett and all our dads for their preparation and organisation of the Mother’s Day breakfast last Friday. It was wonderful to see the way everyone worked together to make our mums and kids feel pretty special. Just a brilliant effort! Thank you also to our Pastoral Care Committee who organised our Mother’s Day raffle. It is amazing the amount of donations that came through from our families for this. We will always be grateful for our St Col’s family and how everyone brings things together to make it a special place to be.

COLUMBA RUNNERS and SWIMMING SQUAD TRAINING

A big thank you goes out to our Columba Runner parents who continue to organise two afternoons a week for our kids to enjoy running and improving their fitness and wellbeing. This is a massive commitment by our parents. Also, to our parents who are coordinating Swimming Squad training for our Interschool carnival on Friday 28 May. We appreciate how involved our parents are in the training, but also in the organising of breakfast afterwards.

SCHOOL UNIFORM

Our students will need to be wearing full school winter uniform, including ties, from next Monday 17 May. Please note, boys have the option of shorts or trousers. We are moving into Week 5 of the term, so it is now time to tighten the standards. Notices will come home regarding incorrect uniform after a warning from staff. We will also be looking at hairstyles. If a child’s hair is collar length, it must be tied up. If a child has a long fringe that is covering part of their face, then their hair needs to be cut or tied back.

TUTITION FEES 2021

Tuition Fee statements and Payment Authorisation forms were emailed to families at the commencement of the year. For those parents and caregivers that have not returned their Payment Authorisation forms, set up a repayment arrangement or a direct debit, please ensure that you contact our Finance Officer, Peta Santella either by email to peta.santella@cewa.edu.au or on 9208 2705. If you are experiencing financial difficulty, please contact Peta to discuss an alternative arrangement. Thank you to all our families for their continued support with the tuition fee collection in 2021.

FULL FAMILY DETAILS REPORT

An email was sent out on Friday 23 to all families. Attached to the email was the Full Family Details Report showing information we hold in our School Admin system for each family. This email could have gone to your ‘Junk’ folder. It is very important for the care of your child/ren that this data is complete and up-to-date. Please print out the form and make any necessary amendments by ink pen and return to the school office as soon as possible. If there are no changes to the information the form does not need to be returned.

Columba Runners

We would love to invite all those children wishing to join us for Columba Runners in Terms 2 and 3 to do so. The first session was held on the 19 April at Frank Drago oval. Columba Runners runs from 3.15-4.15pm and will continue to run each Monday and Wednesday during term time. Cost is $25 per child, parents can join free! Prizes awarded based on total kilometers achieved over both terms, including those parents brave enough to participate! Please complete the online registration.

This club is run by volunteers. Any parents who are able to attend and assist with marking laps and encouraging everyone, we would love to have you. Those attending OSHC are also considered, please chat to the lovely Jess.

If your child is in Yr 2 and below, they must be accompanied by a parent or older sibling. It is the responsibility of the parent/caregiver to ensure the safety of the students between school and Frank Drago.
