Principal's Post

Dear Parents of St Columba’s,

Term 4 has been a very busy and exciting term for our Year 5 Students as they look ahead to their final year at St Columba’s in 2024.

In recent weeks, the Year 5 students nominated themselves for various leadership roles and presented their speeches to their peers in Year 5, staff and the School Leadership Team. Following these speeches, students in Year 5 and our staff participated in the voting process.

The quality of their speeches was truly remarkable, reflecting the significant effort and time they invested in their preparations. Their speeches included inspiring quotes about leadership, some of which I have noted in reflecting on my own leadership journey.

It gives me immense pleasure to announce the following students as our school leaders for 2024:

Head Girl: Maggie Ma
Deputy Head Girl : Sayuthmee Ratnayake

Head Boy: Edmond Cavalli
Deputy Head Boy: Max Pierre

Faction Captains

ColumbanusAbraham Lawes & Keira Pollitt
McAuleyGethin Humphreys & Scarlett Fernandez
RussellFrancis Le & Zoe Juszkiewicz
PascalTy Fernandez & Grace Hartus

Ministry Leaders

Faith: Sam Villamar & Neve Gerick
Wisdom: Harry Lange & Braelyn Carruthers
Peace: Archer Laffrey & Maya Thompson Mewburn
Respect: Hendrik English & Alexi Brammer
Compassion: William Armstrong & Olivia Harris

I have every confidence that they will serve as exemplary leaders within our school community.

I am immensely proud of all the students who participated in the nomination process. Each of them showed an unwavering commitment to take on leadership opportunities, and their efforts are highly commendable.

Year 5 students have also shared with me their designs for their 2024 Student Leaver Shirts. Many shirts contained well-thought-out aspects to represent their time at St Columba’s and the Year 5 Staff and I have a tough and interesting time ahead to take the most suitable elements from all shirts presented and compile them into one. It gave me a sense of joy and hope that all shirt designs reflected the pride our students have in our Catholic Faith and Mercy Tradition.

Friendly Reminder: School Fee Accounts Due by November 30, 2023

We want to kindly remind all parents and guardians that school fee accounts must be settled by Thursday, November 30, 2023. Your prompt payment is essential to ensure the continued smooth operation of our school and to support the educational experiences of all our students.

We appreciate your cooperation and understanding in meeting this important deadline. If you have any questions or require assistance regarding your school fee account, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me at the office or gina.burns@cewa.edu.au.

Thank you for being part of our school community and for your ongoing support.

Year 1 to 6 Booklist for 2024

As per last year, the 2024 Booklist will be bulk orders. Teachers have emailed their orders through to our school supplier, Campion, who will deliver all items to St Columba’s.

The resources levy is paid directly to Campion and is due by the last day of the school term (8th December 2023). Notes were sent out via Seesaw last week.

In gratitude

From our Pre-Kindergarten Classes:

In Pre-Kindy we have been learning about The First Christmas ⭐️

From our Year 6 Classes

In Spelling, we learn not just how to spell the words with our focus rule, but how we can incorporate them into our vocabulary. This week, we wrote raps that incorporated all our spelling words. This is a very difficult task when you need to use words like ‘extravaganza’ and ‘conspicuous’! Once we finished writing them, some brave souls even performed them in front of the class.
