School/Parish COMMUNITY MASS

St Columba’s Church

Sunday 24 October at 9.30 am

This Sunday, we will be holding our final Community Mass for the year. We would love to see as many families as possible attend. It is an opportunity to come together as a school and parish to give thanks for all the blessings we receive.

Our Term 2 and 3 Community Masses were supported in large numbers through our sacramental program. We look forward to seeing you Sunday.

Italian Day at St Col’s

We are having an Italian Day!!! Get excited and please dress in green, white and red or an Italian theme. At assembly we will have a special guest, Mr Piano Accordion Man, playing the fisarmonica.

Staffing 2022

Staffing 2022 will start to take shape over the next month. As with every year, there is staff movement both within the school, but also across our schools. As news comes through of any staff movement, I will notify our community through the newsletter.

Megan Dwyer, who is currently teaching our Pre-Kindergarten classes, has made the decision to enjoy a new phase in her life, retirement. Previous to this year, Megan was one of our Assistant Principals for 12 years. Megan’s love for our children, families and staff is something that will remain for many years to come. We thank Megan for her enormous contribution to the education and life of St Columba’s School and our people. Megan’s leadership of the school has been underpinned by a deep connection to her faith and placing our children first in all her decisions. Leo, one of Megan’s grandchildren is here at St Col’s for another couple of years, so I am sure we will see her popping in every now and then to visit and tell us about how much she is loving life.

Natalie Smith, Year 1 teacher, has been with us for the last three years. Natalie has provided us with joy and excitement within her classroom, finding many moments to celebrate about the children she has taught. It is obvious how much love Nat gives to her vocation of teaching. There is something that draws our children to Nat that remains a secret ingredient to her as a teacher and person. Nat has made the decision to take time away from teaching and focus on her family, pursuing other professional career opportunities.

Mitch McGivern, Year 3 and PE teacher, will be returning to take up a teaching position in Wyndham commencing next year. Mitch gets kids and has formed positive relationships with everyone across our school community. There is something about Mitch and what he brings to teaching and learning within the classroom and out in the playground. Mitch has been drawn to the Kimberley for the last couple of years. It is wonderful to see Mitch following his passion. An exciting time for their community to be welcoming Mitch back after a short time teaching in Wyndham earlier in the year.

While it is sad for us to see our staff leave and pursue other endeavours, it is with an abundance of blessings we wish Megan, Nat and Mitch well. We will thank all staff leaving at our End of Year Edu Dance Concert.
